Alina Tomnikov

Actress Alina Tomnikov was a pretty shy child who grew up in the Finnish suburb of Kerava. Her father played an important role in her life as one of her biggest supporters. He supported and encouraged her to do whatever made her happy. “My father has great significance for me. When I was a child he would always let me act and play in front of the camera where I felt secure and accepted. I got to be creative and to present a wide range of plays from singing songs to playing Sherlock Holmes”.

Now close to twenty years later she has a good reminder for us all.”It is important to get out of your comfort zone, to go towards what feels right and accept the disappointments along the way”.

Alina has been fortunate enough to have many people in her life who have supported her along the way. “My supporters include my father, my teacher, my next door neighbour Minna, actress Mari Rantasila, my spouse and a number of other actors and cultural influencers. They have all been a big part of my story and with them I have shared joys and sorrows and in front of them I can be strong, bare, vulnerable and confident. I strongly believe that supporting others and getting support is extremely important and nothing can be achieved alone,” she continues.

“We are too easily buried in our own sorrows and uncertainties. And I really think helping and supporting other people is the best thing in the world. However everyone is the main character of their own life and we need to remember to take care of ourselves in order to help others. Stories are not made alone and help should be asked when it feels like it”, Alina says.

We all have our own strengths which Alina advises everyone to find. “Life is continuous learning and where everyone has their own path. You shouldn’t worry about others, there is enough happiness for all of us.”

Alina’s style is as bubbly as she is and of course it needs to fit her hectic lifestyle and change according to the situations. “If I can’t decide I rely on my style guru of a husband. Oh and I have many good-luck socks I like to wear! Im mostly really casual with my style but a bit of glitter and bling never hurts and it usually makes me feel good. As long as I feel comfortable, the clothes are perfect.”
